The thing about Robert E Lee is he should have been executed in front of the gutted husk of a torched Virginia plantation mansion, and that should have been his official portrait, and we should have put it on our money.
The Pentagon is restoring a portrait of Gen. Robert E. Lee, which includes a slave guiding the Confederate general’s horse in the background, to the West Point library three years after a congressionally mandated commission ordered it removed, officials said.

"tree equity" is the kind of thing that columnists like to make fun of when why it works is actually instantly apparent to anyone who's ever walked down a street in the summer apnews.com/article/tree...
$75 million was awarded to plant trees in places that badly need them. In anti-DEI push, that's over
The U.S. Forest Service has terminated $75 million awarded to the Arbor Day Foundation to help disadvantaged communities plant trees.

This is an INCREDIBLY serious story for Washington, DC.

There is one prosecutor for DC: the federal/DOJ US Attorney for DC. That's a Trump-appointed position now. The Trump appointee is corrupt, venal, MAGA.

Here the DC police wanted to prosecute a crime, and the Trump USAO SAID NO. 1/

The CHAMPIONS and ONLY TRUE DEFENDERS of women’s sports did WHAT?
NEWS: Trump's Department of Education has rescinded the guidance saying Title IX, the statute governing gender equity in sports, applies to House v. NCAA revenue-sharing payments.

It's one of the expected but drastic shifts in Trump's Title IX application. frontofficesports.com/trump-biden-...

It’s one of several Biden-era policies related to Title IX that the Trump administration has almost immediately reversed.

I think the extent to which election postmortems revolve around fights between libs and the left over policy, and Inside Baseball recapitulation of factional disputes over policy, is actually much more closely related to why we lost than any of the policies being disputed

Fuck off. That's not empowerment, that's outsourcing your soul. That's outsouling.

So... I got a notification from the State Department at like 8 PM Pacific that my passport was approved, and I was quietly thankful and stunned bc my legal gender is X, and that's what's on my passport. I'm pretty sure someone worked late to get the X passports done today.

Thank you, random worker.

Susan Faludi talks about this in "Backlash" too: In the '80s tons of men were told 'we can't hire you because we have to hire a woman' even though companies weren't hiring very many women. Managers were just too chickenshit to tell men they weren't qualified.
this confirms something i have long suspected, which is that certain people are told that their professional and academic failures are because of “affirmative action” or “DEI” as a way to avoid difficult conversations about their mediocrity www.wsj.com/lifestyle/ca...
You Blamed DEI for Hurting Your Career. Now What?
For people who pin their failures on diversity, corporate America’s DEI retreat removes a barrier—or maybe an excuse.
