In the 2010s, this country's elites were thrown onto social platforms with everyone else and could finally read what we all think about them and it caused them so much psychic damage that they decided to destroy both the internet and democracy to make sure nothing like it ever happened again.

Remember when Newt Gingrich had an affair with a staffer while impeaching Bill Clinton and then Republicans replaced him with Bob Livingston, who... also had an affair. And then they replaced him with Dennis Hastert, a child molester?

The Tea Party was covered in the press like it was a spontaneous eruption of populist anger, but those protests drew far fewer people than the recent protests against Trump's administration. The "Tea Party" was just a well-funded organized, right wing movement promoted by friendly media outlets.
