More to the point: this and a couple of other recent news stories illustrate just how relevant degrees in art history and visual analysis are
This administration really is a bonanza for art and architecture historians: this lecture just writes itself
Stephen Miller: "The scandal is how Democrats & the left scarred the landscape of our country w/grotesque so-called modern art that celebrates ugliness ... very importantly, President Trump is making sure it's in the neo-classical design around which our nation's architecture has long been directed"

I'm a historian of architecture and would like to confirm that these renderings are hideously tacky.
Oh look, there are renderings. The Versailles jokes make themselves. Also, this architecture firm should be laughed out of existence.

Having a productive time at the @genocidescholars.bsky.social conference in Johannesburg this week! Hearing experts' ideas and approaches is fundamental to forming my own projects as they continue to develop. Thank you to @researchireland.ie for making it possible!

A powerful essay by @omerbartov.bsky.social that concludes, with care and precision, that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people. Others have reached this conclusion too. Bartov's piece explores some deep and important questions. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/15/o...

Spotted in Warsaw's Stary Mokotów neighbourhood on 22 June, 2025: a balcony flying the EU and LGBT pride flags above one with a banner hanging for the defunct presidential campaign of Grzegorz Braun, known for his pro-Russian, anti-LGBT, and antisemitic views.

"Fabricating faces with AI does not preserve memory. It reshapes it, distorts it, and risks turning tragedy into aestheticized fiction. The tragedy of Auschwitz does not need to be made more visual, more “emotional,” or more “shareable.” It needs to be remembered truthfully." 👏
The Auschwitz Museum has criticised Elon Musk's AI chatbot Grok for adding dreadlocks to an image of a Polish Jew killed at the camp.

It called on the creators of AI systems to introduce safeguards preventing such "ridicule" of Holocaust victims.
