Spotted this in an obscure corner of an East TN parking lot a month ago. Been considering what the image means to me. Now I know. It’s to do with authenticity of form—in spite of extreme pressure, in spite of mortality, ephemerality. So there’s my project 2025. A refusal of oblivion.

Snapped this while reviewing Maria Zoccola’s thrilling debut collection—Helen of Troy, 1993. Seemed just right. If you vibe on literary collisions between podunk southern women and classical mythology—LIKE I DO—you’ll love this book. My review’s up today at Chapter16.org (link in comments)

Holy hell, this week is A LOT. Anybody else out there feeling like the last tree root gripping a riverbank eroding beneath it, I’m with you. Probably by the time I finish typing this, I’ll be barreling your way from upstream. You wont be alone in the chaos of this flood.
