Kristi Noem says it's okay for officers assaulting people to mask, but it's not okay for protesters. As she defends brutality, her Botoxed lips seem to become thicker, her makeup heavier, her eyes more shadowed, and her hair longer. Is she growing into something not quite human?

The Atlanta Federal Reserve now predicts the US economy will shrink nearly 3% *just in the first quarter of 2025.* Wow. Way to go, Team Trump.

Well lookee there. The order to freeze all federal aid just vanished, like that.
Two things: One, now we know that public outrage will force them to retreat: That's good. Two: Your calls to Congresspeople are pitchforks in the castle yard.
Use 5calls.org to wave your pitchfork.

Fox News has nothing on Medicaid funds being withheld. Conservatives know nothing about it. Posts on Medicaid are a year or more old.

This photo was a few days ago, when Vivek thought he was somebody.

But he didn't get the nod for the office of Ohio senator that Vance left vacant. He's now out at DOGE. He may run for gov. He won't win.

He shoulda known that Elon/T wouldn't keep the brown kid around longer than they had to.

I didn't look at Trump so much--I've looked at him too much--but I did look at Melania. This is not a mourning face. This is a tragic I-have-sold-my-soul face.

Over in the world of Fox, commenters are saying it's just fine that the world's richest man is in charge of everything. No concern at all that a person so rich is also avaricious beyond our understanding or he would not be so rich. He'd be giving it away. Anyway, Foxers are loving their new kings.

I think we'd better get this straight. These cabinet appointments are a sign that Trump is instituting a plutocracy -- government by a wealthy elite -- in fact, they're "his" people. We're only "his" people in the sense that before it's all done, he will have eaten us alive.

Here in middle Tennessee, we're fighting a potential sand quarry on the lovely South Cumberland Plateau. The cast includes the wily quarry owner, a compliant state agency, and a corrupt county commissioner versus a small but plucky group of residents. Stay tuned.

A great artist, Ed Carlos of Sewanee, asked me yesterday for my all-time favorite place. Here it is: the double-arched bridge in Val Verzasca in Ticino, Switzerland. That white-headed person at the top of the first arch is me. I like languages, music, books, travel, and family and friends.
