Beavers from above.

It’s far easier to appreciate the full impact of beaver activity from the air.

What can seem boggy, messy and muddy at ground level to some is, from above, a thriving mosaic of habitats engineered by nature’s most industrious ecosystem architects.

370 Amphibians Moved

Over 14 hours, across 20 nights in March, we were able to help 370 toads, frogs, and newts safely cross our street to reach the wetlands below and spawn.

We even recorded the first presence of the Great Crested Newt—a European Protected Species—in our area!

Happy #InternationalBeaverDay!

This cute footage of a kit annoying and playing with who I thought was its dad was taken in August 2017. It was the first real close-up footage I’d ever captured of beavers in the wild.

Ladders Save Lives

Our street is an amphibian migration route. While patrolling over the last few weeks to move toads, newts, and frogs safely across, we discovered large numbers falling into deep gully pots where they couldn’t escape without help.

A landmark moment for beavers in England! 🚨

To unlock their benefits, we now need widespread population expansion - it’s time to normalise this native species.

We’re reviewing today’s announcement against key tests we set out in our initial response earlier today 👇
