they do not believe democratic public’s can fix the meaning of the constitution even with formal amendment

the 14th amendment is about as clear and unambiguous a text as exists and if they are willing to reinterpret it there is no limit to their up is down, black is white legal calvinball
so much of the conservative legal revolution seems to outright reject the idea that democratic publics legitimately constituted can fix the meaning of the constitution without formal amendment.

During ratification of the 14th Amendment, senators discussed whether the Citizenship Clause would apply to the children of immigrants and resoundingly concluded that it did. The text and history all point in one direction and the counter-arguments are patently fraudulent. I am going to lose my mind
The evidence is the text. All you have to do is read the Constitution.

By the way, we’re gonna need to do this fast. Everybody in Silicon Valley with a clearance needs to piss in a cup within 48 hours of the new Democratic administration taking office.
A future D Secretary of Defense - should one ever come - will need to suspend the clearance of every last person affiliated with a16z, 8VC, Founders, & Sequoia and pull clearances from every portfolio company pending comprehensive drug testing, financial review, & CI screening.

It’s going to hurt.

My take on the birthright citizenship case is that if the Roberts court rules that Trump can alter the constitution with an EO, that should be understood as the formal end of the American Republic.

This is no accident, which is why guys like Miller make a point of referring to “descendants” of illegal immigrants, not just children. The idea is that everyone’s citizenship is provisional until the minute your local ICE agent decides otherwise.
No "birthright citizenship" means nobody can prove they are a citizen. If you have any immigrant ancestor and you cannot prove lawful status at that time, even if it was 1830, you citizenship is in doubt.
Take this as far back as you like. The maximal consequence is that everyone must show a chain of citizenship or lawful permanent residency at time of birth for every ancestor to the point of immigration.

A neat thing about birthright citizenship is how it tests whether a person cares at all about the Constitution. There's no argument against it, birthright citizenship is the unambitious text, the obvious intent of the drafters, and the undisputed way it was followed for the past 150+ years.
I continue to think that Matty coming out against birthright citizenship a few months ago should have been taken as a major warning sign that the group chats have already decided to surrender on this.

It could take decades to recover from where we are.
My teen, who had dreamt of being an astrophysicist, just told me he wants to go to law school because, “Science isn’t going to be a priority in the US in the future…I don’t want a job where I’ll be constantly worried my funding will be taken away.”

Gutting. How many future scientists have we lost?

In other words, Trump admits he was trying to use his pardon power to buy Republicans a House seat.

The 14 were selectively slain because they were women in a domain stereotyped as men's.

We have some experience with that stereotype.

This, FWIW, is why I think the killing of Charlie Kirk shocked them so much. Besides how he was just them (ie guy mugging at a camera all day), it put into really stark relief that left-wingers can use violence too (“the enemy gets a vote”), which they’d never really engaged with
by which I mean in Point B, the right has always convinced themselves that if political violence came to america it would be entirely on their terms and go 1000% their way, and kirk getting shot was a major "oh fuck, the enemy gets a vote too" moment for the GOP that they don't know what to do about
