Actually, Frankenstein is the family name, so he should correctly be called Frankenstein's Monster Frankenstein.
Metroid Prime 4 is a masterpiece. It's one of those rare revivals of a dormant series where it feels absolutely cut from the same cloth as the originals. A genuine masterclass in environmental storytelling and game design.

For the doubtful, just find any clip of Starmer speaking and look at this picture while listening.

The most important thing to understand about Kier Starmer is that the person he sounds like that you can never quite put your finger on is Tom from Tots TV. You're welcome.

Note how these awful people are getting exactly the exclusions of children that they demanded and *that still isn’t enough for them*: they demand everyone be delighted about it and kiss their arses for being brilliant.

It just seems unfair to suggest that a man who has made his career on racist politics was racist as a child with no evidence except multiple other children's corroborating accounts of racist behaviour.

The @therestpolitics.bsky.social Zack Polanski interview is a fascinating listen. Perhaps the first time I've seen Polanski on the back foot in an interview and not actually coming out clearly ahead.

Some signs of his other weaknesses, i.e monologuing around difficult questions.

Weird the way the entire world went mad and only the creator of the IT Crowd was unaffected.

What did they get in exchange for - say - categorically ruling out stage two of the Leveson Inquiry, and would we say that was in the public interest in the same way that this was

I'm guessing that 90%+ of £2m+ properties are in London, which by sheer coincidence is where 90%+ of media whingers live. The ones that aren't in Florida or Dubai, anyway.
This house tax pretending is making me more insane than usual because as a renter I’ve had to move every 1-3 years just as standard because rents always rise. And no one cares. House owners get a tiny fraction of that precarity and suddenly it’s the worst thing that’s ever happened

Some choose to go to their graves keeping their work for the resistance secret, and I respect their wishes.
And did absolutely nothing to stop them.

Exceptionally nasty, in the quote below. Do you notice how, if the press wants damning evidence of Farage’s hateful views and behaviour, all they have to do is ask whether anyone has encountered it?

I've never met a programmer who was actually any good and thought AI was useful.
I think that may be the core division here: if you are an author or an artist the cons of generative AI very likely outweigh the pros for you

If you are a software developer the opposite is true

there's that now-famous internet line about how climate change means watching clips of climate disasters on people's phones until you're the one filming it, and it feels like there's some parallel about watching fascist deportation goon squad videos until it's filmed on the streets you recognize

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea
