Yes - this is def a major issue right now. A book being touted by a few faculty I know, teaching with AI (Bowen and Watson) proposes that C+ is the new F, and so we should be requiring higher quality work based on an assumption of AI assistance. But if only some faculty adopt this…

But yeah, “refusal” doesn’t seem tenable even in the short term. The Writing Centre here tells me that every student that comes in is already using ai. If we don’t offer some guidance, we are missing an opp to be part of the discussion when it matters most

And while I recognize that ml/ai literacy is something it would’ve been great to embrace a decade+ ago, there have been more and more things teaching faculty have had to equip themselves with on top of just maintianing expertise in their fields.
