I think I should plug my itch page here: https://elvas09.itch.io/
There are a few free TTRPG things on there.^
I really enjoyed doing it. Even though it's such a small thing. Thanks @onepagerpgjam.bsky.social for hosting this jam.

And the itch page is up: elvas09.itch.io/something-od...

It took some trial and error to get a version that I can reliability print on my home printer (it randomly shifts one side a few millimeters when printing double sided).
Note to self, next time drawing something to size on a paper - consider drawing it bigger to account for bleed.

Sie sind wunderschön. Ich würde gerne Nummer 7 haben.

Also AI/vibe coding is making things way worse. As the code that it spits out is maybe working, but not at all optimized.
December 8, 2025 at 3:51 PM
Mainly though it's a convenience problem. To make something maximally optimized you have to use low level languages that let you manipulate memory directly and write more of the code yourself (to avoid generalisation overhead).
And that's just way harder than bash something together in Python or JS.
December 8, 2025 at 3:48 PM
I think it depends on the field. I'm mostly doing data processing and it's possible to find hyper optimized libraries that do things way more efficiently than whatever I could have come up with on my own.
But also things like Electron (the thing that apps like slack, discord are built on) exist.
December 8, 2025 at 3:41 PM
Oh and sometimes it just gets pushed down indefinitely (or until something breaks for good) because you have to push out new features.
December 6, 2025 at 8:00 AM
And even then it's always a decision between development costs and infrastructure costs.
And in many cases it's simply cheaper to add more RAM to the instance, than has someone spend a week or two working on optimizing the code.
December 6, 2025 at 7:57 AM
I don't know about desktop software development, but for the server side software there is never time for RAM usage optimization, unless it's obnoxiously high for what is being done(but that's subjective) or you work on a scale where little added coat will snowball quickly(big data, ML, etc.).

The backside is also done now. The only thing left to do is an itch page.
December 5, 2025 at 12:01 AM
Yeah, I have been like: this is a solo game, I can play it when I have some time. And I haven't played the solo game in two weeks, because there is always something to do.

One side of the bookmark - done. No I actually have to come up with a table for the other side.

Adding the tree. Still not fully happy with the top branches. Will try to improve it tomorrow.

Um actually, Dork Bork already exists and you can check the preview of it in this zine: barti-maeus.itch.io/every-wednes...

It's done. I could probably have gone with making it slightly smaller, but it works perfectly nonetheless.

The fancy dice:

The one I have already.
I have been using it for years and am very happy with it.
It's a shame that it didn't fit the fancy dice.

And this is the mode for the dice box. I had to scale it up to 120% for the resin dice.
