Very disturbing but not at all surprising. A very important thread to read
Darren Beattie - the State Dept official who dismantled the US government's main center for fighting Russian and Chinese propaganda around the world - turns out to have personal ties to the Russian elite.

Trump official who shut down counter-Russia agency has links to Kremlin
Darren Beattie, who alarmed the State Department with his pro-Moscow views, is married to a woman whose uncle has ties to Vladimir Putin

The irony of trump's expansionist rhetoric attempting to "reassert" the USA as a major power, when all his actions have done is erode our power to the point that, once he's finished, we'll never be considered a superpower again, should not be lost on us.

The $400M worth of State Department Teslas? Trump admin said that started in Biden White House. But I obtained a document showing the amount Biden's State Department planned to spend on EVs: $483,000.

Former WH official on $400M: "I don’t think this is a clerical error"

A new document undercuts Trump admin's denials about $400 million Tesla deal
The State Department claimed a plan to buy thousands of armored Teslas was left over from the Biden administration. A document obtained by NPR shows the Biden plan was far smaller.

acting head of public diplomacy at the State Department under the supposedly normal Marco Rubio. fired for going to a white nationalist conference in Trump's first term, but apparently now that's no longer disqualifying

This thread 100 percent
For all the replies blaming Dems instead of voters, sorry, but voters had every opportunity to choose the *not* openly fascist, horrifyingly racist, misogynist candidate.

Instead, the same voices now convinced it's Dems' fault Trump won told everyone there was no difference between Harris and Trump
I’ll never get over that all of this was avoidable and our kids could’ve had a better future had voters just made the obviously rational choice in November. It’s water under the bridge now. But what the fuck, people.

Chomsky: Greenland is clearly in US sphere of influence. Denmark should trade land for peace
Mearsheimer: Great powers always ruthlessly pursue their own interests. Denmark should be pragmatic
Varoufakis: Denmark's aggressive joining of EU provoked Trump. It's their own fault.

The unspoken subtext for a lot of right-wing, male grievance against "society" and "politicians" is their own personal failures: relationship, jobs, finances.

Disaffected combat vets are vulnerable to recruitment because the deployments they sign up for are ruinous to health, relationships, etc.
Never seen a group so upset they "won"

Your leaders call them “Russian hybrid attacks”. Because if they called them “Russian attacks”, they might have to do something about them.

Robert Gates famously said about Biden, "I think he has been wrong on nearly every major national security issue over the past four decades.” I so badly want to support the Administration but I fear that Gates was right. We’ve blown it in Ukraine, Afghanistan and Israel.
