I read an article the other day (apologies for not recalling author but was in The Economist) about how to reframe every difficult political conversation with which you are confronted with the phrase, “I believe we have different values.” The phrase seems to confuse and disarm your confronter.

I think it’s high time we take back the national narrative. For centuries Americans of all races, genders, religions, and abilities have worked to create a more perfect union, and we should shout from the rooftops that WE are America. Not these idiot white supremacist authoritarians.

Below are the 30 U.S. cities with at least 100,000 residents that had the highest number of crimes against people, per 100,000, according to the latest FBI data report.

Goodness, Washington, D.C., forgot to be included!

JD Vance & Jim Jordon's Ohio makes a stellar showing. Heck of a job on crime!

It used to be a conspiracy theory: Trump will cancel the 2026 midterms. But the Texas remapping outrage is a plan to do exactly that, as extreme gerrymandering spreads to multiple states

The next election will be decided by a computer, not a campaign. My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/texa...

Thank you to Satya Nadella, Amy Hood and MSFT staff in general. Not only were my twenty years there so intellectually challenging and often fun, but in retirement you are truly the gift that keeps on giving.

I just upped our annual donations to World Central Kitchen and Doctors Without Borders and specified that our donations be used for Gaza relief. I cannot believe our own country is letting these children starve to death. It appears the EU is putting together a relief effort as we speak.

I am so looking forward to hearing the incredibly convoluted logic of the deep red Trump base when he pardons Ghislaine Maxwell (which feels inevitable doesn’t it?)

“I had thought that the toxic sludge of shamelessness — that love child of Donald Trump and the internet — had wiped out the old-fashioned notion of humiliation, but I was wrong.” What a perfectly constructed sentence in today’s NYT. I had to celebrate it.
