Libraries, reading, local studies, games, climate and a few other things. PhD. Opinions are my own. On Eora country.
Another #LibFaves24 is COURTING about breach of promise court cases. It is compelling and at times very sad reading.

As I am still behind on my #LibFavs24 here is another BLOSSOMISE it is a book of poetry about blossoms. This is a different experience to the flowers in Australia and provides a joyful and thoughtful read. The illustrations are beautiful.

Next on my #LibFaves24 is CHAI TIME AT CINNAMON GARDENS by Shankari Chandran set in Sydney NSW and Sri Lanka it includes libraries, racism, civil war and much more. Pacy, powerful and entertaining leaving one much to think about.

As I am behind on my #LibFaves24 here is another one. ALWAYS WAS ALWAYS Will BE by Thomas Mayo. For those not in Australia, we had a referendum last and the majority of people voted no, which was disheartening. This is a reminder that there is action that all of us can take.

For #LibFaves24 I am suggesting DIRRAYAWADHA by @dranitaheiss.bsky.social It is an historical novel which speaks of events 200 years ago. It is powerful, bringing First Nations voices to the fore. Make sure you read other books by this author.

Happy #LibraryLoversDay the photograph shows some of the books I have on loan from a public library, while other loans I have are ebooks. I enjoy being able to borrow different formats of books from my local public library.

I have been working away on this part time (with full time work). Thanks to my supervisors Professors Helen Partridge and Celmara Pocock, and Dr Kate Davis. My thesis (University of Southern Queensland) looks local studies with a social justice perspective, especially contemporary collecting.

The next couple of days are at #NSWPLASwitch2023 (I am out of practice at this). The conference is looking at equity, diversity and inclusion. Highlights the importance of representation with library staff and with collections, programs and services.
