Now, the two of them at age 11 pretty much stay apart. Every now and then we’ll hear a fight. I don’t know what set Shadow off or how to stop him.

But every day, especially in the winter, he crawls up onto Mom’s bed under the covers and takes a nap. The start times vary but he always wakes up

This soft, ‘plushie’ cat has a Velcro opening in which there’s a small nylon pouch with some sort of herbs or something which are pleasing to cats. You microwave the pouch for 20-30 seconds then place it back inside the plushie. My former, very old cat loved it. It kept her warm underneath her favourite blanket all day long while while she slept next to me.

Luther, my black cat, lying/reclining inside what was I think originally supposed to be a pink plastic or vinyl laundry carrier, perhaps for college kids. Shadow, my mom’s grey cat, sitting on her highboy where he KNOWS he doesn’t belong. But cats like to be up high, and right here he looks like he owns the world. The day after we got them at about nine weeks old; Shadow and Luther were best friends. Luther still as a kitten about 11 years ago, sitting in the sunshine.
