9 December 1938 | A French Jewish boy, Simon Boruchowicz, was born in Paris.

He arrived at #Auschwitz on 19 August 1942 in a transport of 998 Jews deported from #Drancy. He was among 897 of them murdered in gas chambers after the selection.

To recap:
•Rittenhouse killed 2 people at a BLM rally & raised $2M
•Shiloh Hendrix called a Black child the n-word & raised $800K
•Now Crystal Wilsey called a Black customer the n-word & has already raised $100K in 1 day

On thing remains clear—White supremacy remains extremely profitable in America

We shouldn’t have to debate who “deserves” food, healthcare and housing.

We should be angry that these things aren’t guaranteed to everyone.

We should be outraged that the wealthy & corporations continue to profit off the misery and suffering of others.

This is your regular reminder that catastrophic illness and disability is often financially devastating.

It’s not a moral failing.

It can happen to anyone at anytime.

Too many people don’t care about healthcare access because they’re sure it’ll “never happen to them”

My husband just said to me “I’m watching this thing about the sand crisis in the US” and I’m sorry but

No

No.

I am at peak crisis limit. I am overbooked. I am offering vouchers for crises to stay at the best western overnight. I do not consent to learning about the sand crisis.

our bluesky safety manager replied with this to a woman venting after ICE kidnapped her husband, and then banned her.

How do we trust this person to have the empathy needed to be in charge of safety on this website? what the fuck?

if we spam the feedback, it might get somewhere

i'm glad that stem colleagues now care that university administrators' claims of departmental "profitability" are all bullshit now that it's coming for them but a little solidarity while the humanities endured this for decades would've been cool

This is just some petty and cruel shit. I was very proud to serve alongside Rachel Levine. She has more leadership, integrity, and expertise in her little finger than the entire RFK HHS crew does all together. www.npr.org/sections/sho...

Admiral Rachel Levine was the first transgender person to be confirmed by the Senate to serve in the federal government. Her official portrait at HHS headquarters has been altered.

To use plain talk, what he means by "more culturally normal" is "more conservative and white".
California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Thursday that the Democratic Party needed to be “more culturally normal” and “less judgmental.”

Rest assured, a private for-profit post office would cost more and serve fewer people. $30 per year per person is an amazing deal, but also public utilities should not need to generate a profit.
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

Not just American history, sadly.
One thing that’s pretty consistent in American history is elites getting away with it
imagine US political culture if Ford hadn't pardoned Nixon, and instead he went to jail

there are jews of every nationality, color, and ethnicity on god’s green earth and while white jews are beneficiaries of white privilege it also tempered by conditionality: we’re only white insofar as it serves white supremacy. once we begin to combat it, we lose our access to whiteness.
Jews are both a religion and a people.

They are racially diverse.

To categorize them as one race is not only inaccurate but dangerous.

also re: "THE CHOSEN" thing. Jews weren't "chosen" bc of superiority, we were chosen to do a job. 613 commandments, instead of just 10, and a covenant to share the laws of God with the world, and help build a better one. We got chosen for EXTRA HOMEWORK not more pie.

The fact that a second strike like that in an armed conflict is definitely a war crime should not completely negate the fact that *there is no war* and ALL the strikes are cold-blooded murder. The whole chain of command are murderers.

And secondly, the cavalier way this is framed is utterly shameful: eugenics is not something to be "shrugged" at. Millions lost their freedoms, their bodies were transformed against their lives and hundreds of thousands died.
Eugenics continues to shape law, medicine, immigration etc.
Shameful.

good thread

the core problem here is that Trump has been brutal but not remotely "efficient"

the secondary problem is that the left wants to build stuff and the right wants to break stuff and it's a lot easier to break stuff
There is such a thirst in some progressive centrist circles that they will look at the Trump administration as a model to get things done. I think its worth addressing the argument. This is from Mark Dunkelman, author of the widely praised "Why Nothing Works."

All of this thread is fantastic, especially on what boycotts ask of disabled and those struggling financially.

But I also want to tap the sign: an Amazon boycott wouldn't be effective anyway because the VAST majority of their revenue comes from their cloud hosting platform.
I am observing the boycott, but. Given how few options Amazon has left us when it comes to buying stuff affordably, and the degree to which they overprice wares outside of major sale days...

I do question the wisdom of orgs calling to boycott them every major sale day.
