I am really saddened by the level of vitriol and hatred being directed toward the trans community.

We are losing our common humanity. How hard is it to treat people with kindness and respect?

Trans people are human beings — and they deserve to live in dignity like anyone else.

I know there are many trans and non-binary people who will be feeling deeply worried today, caught in the midst of a media storm as they try to simply live their lives. Please know that I stand with you - today, tomorrow and always.

I wrote about my friend's father, a Holocaust survivor, and how the stories you run the fastest from end up being the only ones that you were inevitably bound to write in the first place. I'm sorry for the delay. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/06/m...
The Holocaust Story I Said I Wouldn’t Write

I had a delightful time taking to @schreiberland.bsky.social on the brilliant We Can Be Weirdos podcast. I can't remember exactly what I said but subjects covered involved doomsday, ghost architecture, JFK, locked room mysteries, and scarves from parallel universes pod.link/1687199754

For the first time in over 20 years, Israel has deployed tanks in the West Bank, after expelling 40,000 Palestinians from refugee camps.

This is a prelude to full annexation, and makes a mockery of the ceasefire agreement that Israel continues to violate. [1/3]

Great to see Chris, man of many talents and also haircuts, being interviewed about his gorgeous debut novel HERMIT in the @heraldscotland.bsky.social this week
“I wasn’t ready to do that. I wasn’t mature enough. I lost my mind, I lost my way & I fell out of love with writing for a while." I interviewed Chris McQueer whose touching, darkly funny debut novel Hermit is out on February 27. Online today and in the @heraldscotland.bsky.social mag on Saturday.
Acclaimed Scottish author says: 'I lost my mind, I lost my way'
Growing up in Glasgow’s East End with his single mum, Tracy, Chris McQueer had a firm idea about the type of man he wasn’t going to be. “There…

Apologies that I will become insufferable for the next few months, but: my new book is now officially A REAL THING THAT EXISTS.

It's a history of the apocalypse. It's out on February 25 in the UK. Really hoping that... well, the apocalypse doesn't happen before then.

First post! @jrf-uk.bsky.social I've been thinking about how paid & unpaid care intertwine, and so how any future care system will rely on unpaid care.

Very excited about new work we're funding from Emily Kenway deepening our understanding of how & why we can't design out unpaid care 👇
Unpaid carers provide an essential but often invisible service
New research is filling the evidence gap around why people are unpaid carers, and building understanding of their essential role alongside paid care services.
