Here for US immigration policy and enforcement updates.
@chicagocta.bsky.social I thought we were done with the Ghost Bus situation. Seems no? It happened to us this morning.

@chicagotribune.com @chicago.suntimes.com What's the latest on this?

Here's a record. I just spent 2.5 hours on the phone with BCBS, mostly on hold while they attempted, unsuccessfully, to resolve a misunderstanding and internal communication error.
Surely there is a better way than keeping customers on the line while we do our work, no?

Luis Alberto Castillo Rivera, a Venezuelan asylum seeker, didn't commit any crimes. But the United States (that's all of us) shipped him to Guantánamo and he didn't even know where he was for 2 weeks.

And Jesus said, "Greater Love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for those who have proven themselves to have morally good character."
‘Refugees will often have shown great courage, fortitude and ingenuity in the face of the obstacles placed in their way. Showing such virtues in order to escape oppression is not normally seen as evidence of bad character, rather the contrary.’

The second traditional ICE Ir flight is also in the air now. Perhaps signaling a ramp up…

This is the good stuff.

You know how I was screaming about this weeks ago? Well, they came right out and said it; the Trump admin would rather go after migrants than pedophiles, drug traffickers, and terrorists.

Funnily, Fox News is eerily silent about this. Because of course.
DHS has ordered its entire investigations division - composed of 6,000 agents - to divert focus on drug dealers, terrorists, and human traffickers and shift priority to the Trump administration’s mission of deporting immigrants

Thousands of DHS agents shift to deportation instead of drugs, weapons and human trafficking
Redeploying Homeland Security Investigations agents is part of a broader Trump effort. But some fear many serious transnational crimes will go unprobed.

They arrived at the United States border from around the world, hoping to seek asylum.

Instead, they were detained, shackled and flown by the U.S. military to a faraway country, Panama.

Lord, have mercy.
DHS released images of the first immigrants under the Trump administration to be sent to Guantanamo Bay this week. (I will not post images featuring people’s faces, obviously without their consent.)

This is a cute quote, but it's important to state directly that there are many staff who are not religious at both these institutions, and more importantly, they serve clients regardless of their religion.
Noting that Elon Musk attacked the Lutheran Church's work providing services, and that JD Vance attacked Catholic Bishops for their work with immigrants. Fair to say that this administration is one of the most hostile to religion and religious freedom that we have seen in recent memory.

Severe understaffing at the FAA has already killed far more Americans in 2025 than immigrants, trans people, “Antifa”, and DEI has. Once again, misinformation and prejudice put lives at risk.

Graham details perspectives of conservative Christians who felt othered. Worth a read, echo chamber friends.

“I feel like Cinderella — I’ve been back in the ashes forever, and suddenly we’re being asked to dance at the ball,” he said. “This is as big a cultural shift as I’ve seen in my lifetime.”

Bit of an experiment for those of you not deep in the weeds of immigration. I’ve got a question for you.

Imagine a woman from India with an MA degree. She has a job lined up willing to sponsor her for an immigrant visa. How long do you think it will take to get the visa?

Reply below. No googling!

Oh, per @nbcnews.com: Quaker groups file suit over the end of policy restricting ICE arrests in houses of worship.

Note: Quakers were some of the earliest supporters of Sanctuary, even putting out a booklet on the topic in 1984 (it's still available). www.nbcnews.com/politics/nat...
