Looking forward to preaching at my beloved home church First Christian Church (DOC) in Bowling Green, KY tomorrow, Sunday, August 3 @ 10am CST. Come join in as we dream together what renewal and rebirth can look like.

If you aren’t sure what to do about the challenges we face, the one thing we know is that doing nothing & isolating are going to be our least effective options. If you need a baby step, you can be a part of a mutual aid network or join a local group trying to solve a problem (even if very small).

Loved being about to talk about Kentucky, my mammaw and pappaw, belonging, and the religious themes in the music of Tyler Childers at the American Academy of Religion annual meeting. #aarsbl

Excited to see Leah Schade’s @leahschade.bsky.social most recent book, Preaching On Social Issues, out in the wild at #aarsbl! Talk about a book that is timely!

So excited and inspired at my #aarsbl panel. “Authors meet Respondents: Fire Dreams: Making Black Feminist Liberation in the South.” Great way to start things off with incredible scholar-practitioners.

Excited to give my paper, “The Gospel of Tyler Childers: Gay Coal Miners, Sobriety, and Way of the Triune God,” at #AARSBL this year. Bonus: hear about my dad who did a stint as a traveling Baptist child Gospel singer from the river bottoms of Kentucky.
