"This is a metaphor" is a far more logical explanation for the Eucharist than a literal miracle, just as "James Bond is a code name" is a far more logical explanation for "British spy who has somehow been ageless for 60+ years and also changes faces"

Anyway, much like my class's accidental conversion to Protestantism, I think a lot of people know, vaguely, at the back of our minds, we're supposed to pretend all Bonds are the same guy, but also we all know it's not.

(In fairness to our teachers, we HAD been taught that it was a literal miracle and not just a metaphor, but that was back in second grade and I guess transubstantiation vs. consubstantiation wasn't really emphasized but rather taken as a given that we all knew/remembered that.)
