I can’t tell you how many customers asked us to just “leave me alone” (and rightfully so!)

When I worked for Borders, which was especially terrible, if someone asked where something was we were supposed to follow a 6 step protocol that involved smiling, accompanying the customer to the product, putting it into their hands, suggesting 1-2 more products, & walking them to the register

Do these stores not understand that I literally do not require anything from an employee unless I am initiating it? If I have a question, I’d appreciate an answer, but that’s it; I don’t need a mannequin with a pasted on smile
