Still having a hard time quitting Facebook.

Still slowly giving away Michael Magrath's things - today it was a fat book on the Thirty Years' War to somebody who is really excited about the Thirty Years' War.

A couple of weeks ago it was a green reversible raincoat that would never have fit him.

Mass revolt from queer authors in the UK after a major LGBTQ+ writing prize longlisted a self-proclaimed TERF.

11 authors and 2 judges have withdrawn from the Polari Prize. One of those withdrawals, that of June Thomas, is newly confirmed by our reporter, @evanurquhart.bsky.social.

Retirees and disabled people are facing chronic website outages and other access problems as they attempt to log in to their online Social Security accounts, even as they are being directed to do more of their business with the agency online.
Social Security website keeps crashing, as DOGE demands cuts to IT staff
The worsening problems come as Elon Musk’s DOGE team pushes for more cuts at the agency, including in the department that oversees the website.

Twice Baked Potatoes with the Cougar Gold canned cheddar, and some Black Waxed Ilchester of uncertain age but rankly overripe and needing to be blended with less funky cheeses. I mess with the original Moosewood recipe a lot - tons of turmeric, tomatoes, shawarma spices on top.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-New Jersey) has been speaking on the Senate floor since 7 p.m. Monday, vowing to speak for “as long as I’m physically able” to protest President Donald Trump, Elon Musk and the administration’s policies.

Here’s what to know.
Why did Cory Booker spend the night speaking on the Senate floor?
The New Jersey Democrat is speaking in protest of the Trump administration’s policies. He is not delaying the Senate from a vote, so it is not a filibuster.

Confirmed from catching up w/my bestie today that her brother, a cancer researcher, has all of his NIH research grants paused.

He hasn't had to fire anybody, because he's not a supervisor, but Trump getting both Houses of Congress to give a kid with cancer a standing ovation...whited sepulchre.

I’m asking him a simple question: will he change course and encourage parents to vaccinate their kids against measles — yes or no?

A child in Texas died from measles, the first death in a decade. It should be an easy yes.
