Husband & Grandpa. Nullifidian. Not a scholar. I was a religious Jew. Now, as a secularist, I just enjoy the OT/Rabbinical texts as literature. No pointless DMs. I love good stories and art.
Yeah, like your comments are worth anything! 😂

I fed your image and description into an AI image generator and asked it to make a 3D version. 😉

Some came out very weird! Smile

In this week's #Torah portion, we begin to look at the different types of acceptable slavery.
Just as the "10 commandments" [sic] endorses owning human property, the biblical texts explicitly accepts and demands it in different places.

Different authors had different views.

In this week's #Torah portion, we read that a man who inadvertently causes the death of another will be put to death.

Two books later, we read that one who does manslaughter has to participate in a "Running Man" style game where he can be killed if his pursuer catches him.

In this week's #Torah portion, we read about Joshua ben Nun. Who, in a later narrative, is called Hoshea, until Moses renames him as Joshua.

Different author's narratives stitched together.

The "10 commandments [sic]" forbade one from coveting his co-religionist's "ahma". Likely because the human property listed couldn't be sold, once owned.

In this week's #Torah portion, we learn about the "ahma".

She's not a "maid servant", but a conjugal slave-girl.

Old Turkish Proverb:

When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn’t become a sultan.

The palace becomes a circus.

In this week's #Torah portion, we read of the first 3 of the 10 plagues, which not only affected the Egyptians, but the Hebrews as well.

That will teach them!

In this week's #Torah portion, YHVH introduces himself (several times! - different authors stitched together) and makes a claim that is different from the Genesis authors.

The apologetics on this are excruciatingly to listen to!

In this week's #torah portion, we read of Moses commanded YHVH, and YHVH obeying Moses.

Their relationship seems a bit...complicated!

In this week’s #Torah portion, we read about the rape of Dinah.

After the rape, it says the rapist loved the נערה.

The LXX used παρθένος for “female youth”.

This is the same word used in Isaiah 7:14, to replace עלמה which Christian translations replace with “virgin”.

Based entirely on ideology.

I picked the last of our [Meyer] lemons for the year. Yes, they are lemons! We had about 600 lemons from one tree, meaning, we made a lot of juice and stored it in the freezer (and gave a lot of lemons away).

The Biblical patriarch Jacob is often referred to as righteous, which requires lowering the bar and making some of the other characters into villains.
