A left wing politics that is oriented around your rights and identity as an individual consumer instead of your responsibilities as a member of a social or political community is basically a left aesthetic pasted onto an internalized neoliberal ontology.

JD Vance owns a company that buys American real estate and sells it to foreign investors. They specifically target Americans in crisis to buy their property for less than it is worth.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

That's like saying we should support the food industry. It provides a social good, along with some bads. Do we support the workers, or the bosses?
There has been a noticeable reticence in left and liberal circles to voice full-throated support for pornography, even as it's become increasingly clear what the open end goals of the censorship movement are
In a lot of ways other leftists chose this path folks. They shrugged and didn’t care when Patreon banned a ton of hypnosis and TF creators, or when YouTube started their ASMR crackdown. Now it’s coming for queer porn creators, more and more. Who will stand up?

Confirmed this with an NIH source. At the moment, not aware of anyone else who has been placed on leave though.
According to a source, Jenna Norton, who led a letter criticizing Trump's decimation of the NIH (see below), has been placed on administrative leave. She's the first at NIH to be put on leave, joining EPA officials who criticized Trump policies.

Both the left and the “don’t fight” Democrats want to depict the “fight/don’t fight” conflict within the Democratic Party as a proxy conflict between the left and the center. It gives the left a lot of extra lift while giving the “don’t fight” faction a tool to keep people on side. But it’s wrong!

Terrifying deskilling:

"Phonics is challenging for many kids. The cueing strategies seem quicker and easier at first. And by using context and memorizing a bunch of words, many children can look like good readers — until they get to about third grade"

How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

Jeffrey Epstein was picking out Trump term 1's cabinet secretaries. I repeat, Jeffrey Epstein was picking out the President of the United States' fucking cabinet.
well that's odd, because in late december 2018 epstein tells larry summers he's in palm beach, summers asks if he's going to mar-a-lago, then christmas morning epstein tells summers he's "being asked for 3 names to replace mnuchin"

I think a lot of people have decided (without evidence) that defending a way to throw sand in the gears of the Trump regime right now means defending it through perpetuity, but that doesn't follow in the slightest.
"The filibuster is anti-democratic because it prevents the majority party from enacting it's agenda." Yes have you happened to notice who said "majority party" is right now?

As @brycecovert.bsky.social explained later that year, declining unionization and declining democracy go hand in hand. In trying to quash organizing efforts, companies like Starbucks deploy authoritarian tactics: surveillance, repression, and coercion.

Why the NYT didn't report on their Epstein info is tangled up with another question: was Epstein a friend of the Sulzberger family? Epstein claims he first befriended NYT publisher "Punch" Sulzberger in the 1970s, when Sulzberger's daughter (age ~12) was at the prep school where Epstein taught. 1/

- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
