I prematurely ahead of time congratulate you on becoming a citizen of the new nation of Cascadia some time in perhaps the near future 😀

@maggiemcneill.bsky.social
Today I announced an agreement between Washington state, Oregon, and British Columbia to renew and strengthen our partnership.

Together, the Cascadia region will address housing affordability, invest in clean energy, and create the conditions for long-term economic growth.

This video of the "ICE" agent [?] with no ID, who thinks claiming to be in the DHS means he's allowed to drive his kids around drunk answers two questions:

1. Many ICE agents probably *are* just cosplaying vigilantes with issues; and

2. Many think claiming to be ICE means they can disobey laws.
Divorced, whiny ICE goon gets arrested for driving drunk with his kids in the car.

He acts like he’s above the law, stating, “I’m Federal.” He also confronts one of the arresting officers, asking, “Are you Haitian?” And makes a big deal out of getting an answer because, "It does matter!"

A two page "novel" was just discovered written by Jack Kerouac in the items of deceased gangster boss Paul Castellano, who was killed by Gambino in 1985.
Read the text of the novel here in the pics. Best five minutes you’ll have this week, guaranteed:

What can you take away from an AI incident? “How a matrix of concerned readers, workers, fellow indies, and union reps can apply constructive pressure to a large organization and so keep them accountable to community values.”
Everything you need to know about the Powell’s AI slop snafu—and what we can all learn from it.
Another day, another duel with AI slop. Unfortunately a recent deep fake has come in the guise of a friend. Last Friday, Powell’s Books of Portland, Oregon—one of the country’s best lov…

Thank you.
Fascism is here. We are not “getting closer” or “in danger of.”

This matters because it frames our discussion: We aren’t trying to prevent it, we’re trying to defeat it. It’s not taking over our institutions, it’s taken them over.

Otherwise, we’re always behind, fighting a past we’ve already lost.
