My first senior author paper came out this month, and I could not be more proud of the 3 leading authors, all students in my lab. This work shows how vital it is to continue working towards repurposing drugs for multimorbidity, especially if oral, low cost, low side effects. Sequel coming out soon!

We used to offer sanctuary to Ukrainian, Palestinian and Afghan scientists, and now to the scientists from the leader of the free world. Unfathomable.

The unseen, terrible consequences of Trump's ax on indirect costs. Millions of research animals may die due to lack of funding to keep them alive, yet anti-vivisectionists would call this a long-term win. Go figure.

What the health & scientific world "have experienced in the past few weeks is like a death in the family. We are angry, shocked, & saddened, but we must not despair". This a telling account of what is happening in the #US, but I am saddened that the author felt it had to be written anonymously.
Anger, despair, and defiance from a voice within the US federal research system
People around the world are watching with disbelief as the new US government closes down its aid programme, withdraws from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Paris agreement on climate change...

Following our project grant from BHF Accelerator Award, our team had yet another success with the Van Geest Foundation Research Fund, ensuring our research can continue interrupted for at least another year🔬. Truly grateful and relieved for this, at a time that labs around the world are struggling.

So if I’m understanding today correctly, the world’s richest person Elon Musk, whom no one elected, is taking over federal payment systems and employee data while the federal employees who investigate and prosecute public corruption are being fired en masse.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. #1108:
Don't fetishize antisocial behaviour, illness or addiction. Some writers have also been abusers, or alcoholics, or addicts, or mentally ill. None of these things made them better writers. If they were great, it was in spite of those things, not because of them.
