“Political subordination of reality” is a fabulous framing Lee offers us. Exploiting partisan enmity to turn doubt (refutable) into distrust (irrefutable) and divorce what is material and observable from what a targeted group wants to or is “supposed to” believe.

I would say that “cancel culture” is not really the subject so much as public access to texts from a variety of sources, who the de facto arbiters of that access are, their motivations, and effective ways of fostering sincere discourse.

I wonder if our chat has crossed his mind in these scant hellish days during which many of his patients’ records have essentially become public information. I wonder if he has made recommendations or changes on behalf of other patients. I wonder if these little measures will even matter soon.
