Absolutely insane opinion from an appellate judge, complaining about George Soros in the *first line* of a dissent
Uhhh, this belated dissent in the Texas districting case—written by a 79-year-old Reagan appointee—is quite a ride storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Unless and until some kind of compelling legal and moral argument is presented as to why this is a legitimate use of deadly force, this is just…mass murder.

Rand Paul had his two seconds of having correct takes and decided that was enough of that, apparently
Rand Paul: "People say, 'Oh, people have a right to say things.' Well, actually they don't necessarily have a right to say things. Many people have in their contract what we call a morals clause ... I think it is time for this to be a crackdown on people."

Political violence disproportionately hurts people with less power, not people with more power. Political violence will disproportionately hurt people of color and women and LGBTQ people. It’s not fair, but that’s the way it works. Celebrating political violence means at best indifference to that.
Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Celebrating political violence is bad. It usually encourages more political violence, against various targets.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

It's bad that what I wrote here is controversial.

Why the fuck is *Rand Paul* the one with the correct takes???
Rand Paul: "The reason we have trials & we don't automatically assume guilt is what if we make a mistake and they happen to be people fleeing the Venezuelan dictator? ... off our coast it isn't our policy just to blow people up ... even the worst people in our country, they still get a trial."

A Florida court detained a US Citizen for being an "illegal immigrant." He showed the court proof of citizenship. The court agreed—& held him anyway.

I criticized the ruling online & a Florida judge responded by trying to strip me of my law license. I fought back www.qasimrashid.com/p/a-florida-...

This is just appalling, disgusting, gutter racism.
Rep. Andy Ogles, a Republican from Tennessee, has sent a letter to Pam Bondi calling for Zohran Mamdani to be stripped of his citizenship and deported.

Some of you have reached out for my thoughts about the planned "Harry Potter" television series set to debut on HBO next year.

This reskeet is an endorsement. Everyone, without a single exception, deserves due process
Just to be clear, I'm advocating for due process for Kilmar Abrego Garcia
JUST IN: Deputy Assistant to the President and "Counterterrorism Czar" Sebastian Gorka says anyone advocating for due process for Kilmar Abrego Garcia could be viewed as "aiding and abetting a terrorist" and be federally charged. (h/t Philip Germain)

hey.

a very unfortunate and upsetting thing happened to me this week, and talking about it publicly comes at a great personal cost so if you could take the time to read it, it would mean a lot

tldr: wotc pulled the ad i made on all platforms due to the comments said ad received

Absolutely nobody is exempt from this. Without due process, there is no way for anybody to push back on any accusation the government makes
If you think this can’t happen, remember that of the 125,000 Japanese Americans who were interned during WWII for years without charge or trial, two-thirds were U.S. citizens. Including me.

Without the ability to call hearings, subpoena witnesses, or pass legislation, there aren't many proactive things the minority party can do.

But this is good to see, and I hope to see more of it in the future. It may be performative, but it appears to be actually disruptive and attention-grabbing.
Senator Cory Booker has started his 17th hour on the Senate floor during his filibuster.

"Donald Trump is rolling back common sense environmental protections, threatening our children's' futures, and hurting our nation's economy."

Get it, Cory!

This administration is utterly evil. Anyone who enabled or continues to enable them can take a long walk off a short pier
New — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) was told this week by DOJ that they'd lose their funding if the org didn't remove any mentions of LGBTQIA+ issues from their public materials, I've learned. Staff were told they need to deadname trans kids in their reports to comply.
