Energy and climate finance. Sometimes author. Sometimes professor. Dad. Lawyer. Ill-conceived posts are solely my fault.
We are under-valuing the pressure on the social license to operate digital infra in the U.S. Not sure we fully appreciate what it will take to compete.

I would suggest there are at least a handful of US green hydrogen projects that ahead of this graphic, but broadly seems in line with what we see.

No insurance usually means no mortgage, so yes it’s a pretty big issue (unless you have a mattress full of cash).

I would expect insurers, and especially re-insurance they are doing their own risk analysis have their own models - though maybe they like this as a way to send price signals to the market for justifying policy cost variance?

It suggests there is actual consumer demand for this information (how valuable this rating will be is certainly an open question) - could be there is more of an awareness shift at the individual than polling would have us believe?

Psychologically humans don’t evaluate long term risks effectively. We just haven’t evolved that much.

The economic ripple effects of this shift will be monumental.

Sounds like a lot of high quality Georgia jobs…

Very cool project.

Thanks! Still learning my way around this platform, but it certainly feels like there is healthy discourse.

SDRs are a large, but structurally limited tool. We explored a number of approaches in laying the foundation for the Resilience and Sustainability Trust, but practically the limited mandate and politics set the limits. Still have some great concepts that were discarded if you want to discuss.

Absolutely.

That’s a big number.

I see a lot of interest in energy transition assets/platforms, less in the pure risk side (but that’s almost certainly natural bias because financing clean energy assets is kind of what I do).

There are a few working on strategies around this opportunity, but not many that I have encountered.
December 11, 2024 at 1:13 PM
Does seem like there is massive unrealized value in these non-measured risks.
December 11, 2024 at 1:06 PM
Those 45% that don’t think there is climate risk in their investments - do they already have climate mitigation strategies built in? Otherwise there is real undervalued exposure.

We are just scratching the surface of the economic disruption that insurance refusing coverage will have.

Good list
