Going through Dmitri Williams' "old" research article on the games industry when PC and console platforms hadn't converged yet, the genre diversity segmentation reflects my own experience in the late 90s with PC game genres (RTS, sim, point n click adventures) versus console genres

I’m reading @jesperjuul.bsky.social’s Commodore 64 book and it’s very much in line with my own experience and knowledge with games growing up in Northern Europe as these paragraphs verbalizes the disconnect I have with so much retro video game discourse in both games academia and in games media.
