I like you.
Jordan Wood is running against her. Has been for a while. Not a known political figure outside of Maine, but he's been very active and engaged here. He's pretty much taking the hyper-local approach to campaigning rather than pursuing national visibility. Which is a smart tactic for Maine politics.

Exactly. This place, as the brain trust (/s) is planning to build it now, will be unusable in five years. Which may be the only optimistic thing about it.

A lot of people seem to think that jus sanguinis citizenship is some kind of unwritten divine mandate that our law codes will default to in the absence of a 14th Amendment. I don't envy their shock when they realize that they aren't exactly this administration's idea of "blood and soil," either.

She asked this question. I wish I were kidding.

I'd be willing to bet a significant amount of money that Elon's eventual corporate restoration campaign will rest squarely on the argument, "Maybe the real Nazi was just all the ketamine I took along the way?"

Dumber than a sack of hammers, this one.

James Bovard calling himself (or being pen named) "Jim" for this article to distance it from his 60-year career of having a complete lack of authoritative knowledge on, well, anything was certainly a decision.

Aspergers is different, in their minds. They are 100% going to set aside exemptions for "high functioning" people on the spectrum... as long as they toe the line.
April 24, 2025 at 6:58 PM
Fairly sure they're setting the table for a reintroduction of Asperger's (or some other distinct category of "high-functioning") to insulate themselves. And people very like themselves. Who happen to agree with them on everything.

In their defense, they're not very good at math.

50501 announces dates. That's the extent of their contribution. All the protests are organized and run locally, usually from the organizers' own funds.

50501 has announced nationwide protests for the 19th, but not every state is having one at their state capitol this time.

Two athletes that were supported by their teammates, too. Literally no one had an issue with them until these weird middle-aged people who are fixated on children's anatomy showed up.

Quote of the year.

The number one cause of autism is genetic. Meaning, there's an awful lot of self-hating parents out there who are on the spectrum themselves, have fully internalized the stigmas, and are using their kids as props to prove that they are "normal."

As an elder millennial who has worked with Gen Z'ers for awhile, I really appreciate this take. Considering the dumpster fire they were born into, and the fact that they've had that drilled into their brains 24/7, inescapably, since they were eight years old, they are remarkably well-adjusted.

Professor Nadia Abu El-Haj shared a really illuminating perspective on Columbia's leadership on Peter Beinart's podcast this week. It's behind a subscription paywall, but if you're already subscribed, I highly recommend it.

The college that got several square blocks of small family businesses in West Harlem declared a "blighted zone" and wielded eminent domain as a weapon to build- among other educational resources- a corporate rock climbing gym, behaving unethically? <shocked Pikachu face>.
