To say this for the 50th time, for anyone who doesn't know:

Three young conservative lawyers were part of the GOP "Florida recount" team that led to GWB becoming president, via Bush-v-Gore.

They were: John Roberts. Brett Kavanaugh. Amy Coney Barrett.

Small world.

When business owners stand their ground on denying access to private areas, ICE is much more limited in what they can do
ICE raided a James Beard award winning restaurant & because the chef/owner was prepared, left emptyhanded:

Every elected Republican was a united front opposing and criticizing everything Obama did for 8 straight years, even if it was a policy they fundamentally agreed with. Why. In the fuck. Is it asking too much for Democrats to do the same with a legitimate fascist?
Democratic voters are working hard to stop fascism. It would be nice if the leaders of the party joined them.

So there’s someone on TikTok who is doing a MALORT ADVENT CALENDAR and I just need y’all to also see this. We’re only 4 days in and I’m slightly concerned how easy this person just drinks Malort. 😳

due to its... simplicity, the OU essay does do a good job at showing the fundamental contradiction at the heart of conservative gender ideology: 1950's gender roles are simultaneously given by God innately to every single person to follow naturally, but also need to be forced on people

And on an app named for a Baum Oz character, too
There's someone arguing with me on Tiktok about whether or not the Oz books were written for children. They think they weren't because "most children couldn't read or afford books in the 1900's" and I am now taking to the bottle. Because this is not a bot.

The reason the top 10% of income earners pay more than half of all tax revenue is NOT because they are taxed more than ever.

Their tax rate has been cut FIVE times in the last 25 years.

They are paying more because their INCOME has increased astronomically, where the income of the bottom half has

Sounds like someone's family is bad at pie.

For my money, apple pie is improved by adding in thin slices of quince and having a crumble top, rather than a crust top, but it is a good thing even without those modifications.
Apple pie is bad. This is not really debatable. So is key lime pie, while we’re on the topic. Pecan pie is the 🐐 tho.

About twice a year, a lady who works at a nursery up near Tahoe drives down here with a whole butch of inventory that they're destroying because it won't overwinter up there. This time, she brought all kinds of great stuff, Veggie starts, Mexican oregano, ashwaganda, Vietnamese coriander, flowers...

I regret to inform you all that I am not built different, and am highly suggestible, especially when it comes to snacks. That's why my husband went out and bought the Paris Baguette snowman doughnuts that have been relentlessly advertised to us on Disney+.

They were delicious.

Let's be very clear: Republicans are killing women. Democrats need to start calling them murderers loudly and often.

This is a long, but thoroughly fascinating, delve into race in Wuthering Heights and its adaptations
When people say that Wuthering Heights doesn't have anything to do with race or that no film has engaged with race, what they mean is that for them Romani people do not count and they also haven't been paying attention. I'm going to share a little material from a recent talk. Content note: racism 1/
