There’s a good reason this Daniel Craig meme is ubiquitously representative of European governance.

It's actually not swindling to tell people what they want to hear if you actually intend on doing those things. Swindling would be something like, just for example, announcing a fake Hyperloop system solely to kill California's high speed rail initiative.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to realize that we acclimate very quickly to the events which constitute History Unfolding Before Us, so much so that we’re lulled into the useless belief that Nothing Ever Happens.

No! We are in the middle of significant change. Take care to pay attention.
Americans have staged two of the three biggest protests ever since just this summer, Democrats won by unprecedented margins Tuesday, Trump’s approval rating is the lowest it’s ever been, and the government is straight up closed until further notice.

Things have already happened and are happening.

Putting a Democrat with a Nazi tattoo in the Senate normalizes Naziism in our federal politics for a long ass time.

All these recent stories about secret Nazi group chats? Anytime that happens going forward will be met with "But Platner."

It's not a purity test. Think through the consequences.

Amazon controls over a third of the global cloud computing market.

Its customers include Capital One, United Airlines, and the US Army.

Today's outage should be a wakeup call: Dependence on a handful of powerful corporations is a threat to economic and national security.

A massive AWS outage early this morning sent major websites and apps down for several hours

A big problem w/US politics is that often the people that run for office come from a class of people that have the money to have the time, and as such have more in common with the current robber barons then the people they represent. We reward wealth with undue respect, and that needs to change.
The Dem base is now way, way to the left of its elected representatives, for sure.

Boomer moms are out in the streets begging Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries to get their shit together and fight back.
I think the lib politicians might have a problem if the dsa politicians are dominating the stage at these lib protests. the problem being that the lib representatives suddenly do not look particularly lib

These people are so incompetent that I do think not that long from now anybody who capitulated without a fight is going to look profoundly foolish and weak (more so than they already do).
ICE official testifies that DHS “prematurely” sent Abrego Garcia a notice that he would be removed to Ghana.

Just this morning, Ghana’s foreign minister wrote on X that the country had “directly and unambiguously conveyed to US authorities” that Abrego cannot be deported there.

i think the key to understanding a lot of establishment discourse is that basically only the left and liberals are capable of being viewed as subjects capable of judgement which is why GOP rule is essentially treated as a force of nature
The media trots out the "deplorable" comment from a decade ago to castigate the left. Once a week now Trump implies that the military should destroy democrats, and it is just how things are.
Trump to the Navy: "We have to take care of this little gnat that's on our shoulder called the Democrats."

I think again about @jamellebouie.net’s piece referring to the Lincoln speech where he was basically like “the South is simply not going to give us any choice about this, there is nothing we can say that will talk them around other than total capitulation to everything they want”
Political violence is a bad thing, it is not a thing I support in and of itself, but it’s simply a fact that one side of this conflict appears committed to not leaving any alternatives open

I mean they’re doing it right fucking now

Def was my experience as a millennial in the Biden Boom years. I entered the pandemic with basically zero net worth and exited Biden's Presidency as a homeowner with several hundred thousand in net worth. 2021 and 2022 were the highest earning years in my career
The received standard tale of Millennials' economic woe is obsolete.

I think one issue about the way racial segregation is taught at least how i was taught in hs, is teaching the primary harms are the segregating and the huge difference in quality of services but not emphasis on the ways that segregation was enforced
Slavery was much worse than you were taught. White Supremacist terrorism and lynching was much worse than you were taught. Jim Crow and racial segregation was much worse than you were taught. The legacy of slavery is much worse than you were taught.
"How bad slavery was" is worse. Much worse. Much worse than you think, much worse than you're taught, much worse than museums depict. Worse.
