Congratulations to former ELCC PhD students Lindsay Hayasaka (nee Morton) and Mehdy Sedaghat Payam, who have won the 2025 Susan L Greenberg Prize for the best research paper at the International Association for Literary Journalism Studies)!

Congratulations to Dougal McNeill, whose book "Forms of Freedom: Marxist Essays in New Zealand and Australian Literature" has been short-listed for the Walter McRae Russell Award for the best book of literary scholarship on an Australian subject!

It's a huge pleasure to welcome Dr Tru Paraha (Ngāti Hineāmaru, Ngāti Kahu o Torongare) as our new colleague in Māori literature in the ELCC programme. She'll be teaching Public Writing this year, but stay tuned for new courses in Māori writing in 2025!

The ELCC programme is profoundly sad to hear that Emeritus Professor Vincent O'Sullivan has passed away. One of the great NZ writers across genres & a respected teacher & colleague. This photo is on the 9th floor of VZ, taken when he was Writer in Residence. Our condolences to his whānau
