I was struggling to explain why I didn't take away much hope from Kimmel's reinstatement a few weeks back. Then I read this piece from Tressie McMillan Cottom. A bit of market power won't mean much without electoral power. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/01/o...

As a parent of two Gen Z'ers who like Manga, the story of how the pirate flag from One Piece became a global protest symbol is very cool. www.newsweek.com/one-piece-fl...

Saw this last night. Fantastic. 4k made the details so clear. And 3D was used perfectly to make the whole movie more lifelike, not to just to make the jump-scares pop out more. Best movie about dysfunctional local government of all time. ; www.capecodtimes.com/story/entert...

I love serving on the board of @ncbudget.bsky.social. I look at them the way Taylor looks at Travis.
The Love Story we want in NC is a fair, transparent budget that funds the things we need. Not one that gives more handouts to millionaires and corporations.

They make it sound like fall is teasing us or lying to us. This is August in the South. Fall ain’t even thinking about us yet. This is just summer getting tired of slapping us every day so it’s taking a few days off www.wral.com/story/weathe...

Damn, I could use Molly right about now.

Using CC as a gateway drug for more Americans to discover the awesomeness that is the WNBA. Love to see it.

Could just be a bad NYT headline (shocker!) but this pisses me off. The South has amazing movement leaders - they need resources not a savior from elsewhere. I hope he's giving out money to homegrown leaders, not telling people down here what to do.

What Zohran said.
America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home.

Happy Independence Day. No Kings in America.

The will of the people doesn’t match who’s in power. Don’t let them tell you otherwise.
Partisan rigging of North Carolina's state legislature is so pervasive that even when a majority of residents statewide voted for Democrats in the 2024 elections, Republicans still held on to 2/3rds of seats in the NC State Senate, and are just 1 seat shy of 2/3rds in the State House.

Oh look, the kinda macho crap women’s sports needs actual protection from.
The coach of a high school women’s basketball team in Northville, New York, was fired after he pulled a player’s ponytail at the end of a state championship game on Friday, the school district confirmed.

Anytime you hear the word "privatize" you should think (and tell others) that it really means "profit-ize."

It’s such a low bar to be called woke these days. Starting to think it means Want Others to Keep Existing.

I’m the proud kid of a DEI hire @NASA circa 1979 (formerly called an EEO hire). My dad, Raul, and the other brown and Black pocket-protector nerds made that place smarter and more effective. Like all DEI hires he was HIGHLY QUALIFIED.
