Enjoying Cavanaugh’s book. He notes that biblical descriptions of idolatry involve fashioning the gods to sacralize an economy or politics, and this leads to oppression and violence. He adds that idolatry is not just about belief. All humans, at times, are idolaters based on loyalty/action.

Well -- it's about 80% fantasy! They made a lot of stuff up, got chronologies wrong, left some very significant things out, etc. etc. Just keep that in mind. Looking at your profile and the quote: "Silence in the face of evil is evil" (often followed by:
