Librarian, loud-mouth, and other multitudes. Continuously struggling against grifters, oligarchs, and other criminals.
As some elements of my job threaten to drag me under, I bake. Bread, cakes, rolls and pies. Because you can't fret about work while measuring ingredients.

In a lousy mood, so I made slow cooked stew and some small bread loaves. Just a simple recipe, but the baking and the tasting helps towards curing what ails me. #breadsky

It’s past ten on the east coast. Take a moment to mentally put today to bed. Lock away your worries-you can let them out tomorrow. 🔐 Pat yourself on the back for making it through today. Go to sleep making plans on how to highlight what makes you happy in your space. Breathe deeply.

Hey East Coast folks: It’s getting late. Take a moment to think of how you helped someone today, and how someone helped you. Plan now for one kind thing to do tomorrow. You can’t change everything in a day, but you can extend kindness like sunshine.

East coasters: we’ve made it through Tuesday. Drink some water, maybe go to sleep early to get the cortisol out of your system. Think of someone who helped you today. Think of someone you helped. Think of what you’ll do tomorrow to make the world better. Sweet dreams.

If it’s evening where you are, it might be time to take a few minutes to think of someone who helped you today, someone you helped, drink some water, stretch, and maybe stretch a little more.

It’s after 11 on the east coast. Think of someone you helped today, someone who helped you, and how you’ll put some good into the world tomorrow. Enjoy these cats, who like to support each other.

If it’s 10pm where you are: drink some water, take your meds, think of something good that you did and that someone did for you. Think of one positive thing you’ll do tomorrow, check out these cute cats, and listen to some happy tunes.

If you’re on Eastern time, take a few moments to feed your brain with something good. There is always room for hope. 10pm might not be time time for action. It might be the time to take a breath and laugh at a goofy cats. We’re in a marathon, folks.

My coping strategies include baking and cooking. Today: Bread loaves and naan, bean salad, butter chicken and a coconut turmeric ginger rice stew. At this rate, my gas&electric bill will be through the roof. Thanks to @kingarthurbaking.bsky.social for the assist! (Now with correct spelling)

My friend’s littlest one loves Irish soda bread (but without caraway seeds or dried fruit). So, 4 plain mini breads and 4 caraway-raisin (no currants in the house) Helpless against the news, but my oven works. #breadsky

First try at English muffins. A little weird shape-wise, but tasty. Baking feeds the body and the spirit, and I’m going to need both after today. #breadsky

Going through old photos and thinking of the joy of those moments - like getting an equally cute & weird picture of Elsie the cat. Picking 3 very specific things I'm grateful for also helps. Neil Pasricha's #1000 awesome list is specific & helpful. 1000awesomethings.com/the-top-1000/

Starting the new year doing things I want to do all year long: be nice to my mom, read books, cuddle with cats, chat with friends and bake bread.

Grateful for the weird little protective nook between the Great Lakes for Rochester, NY. Close to lots of snow without having to shovel it off our roof.

Yesterday’s squirrel enjoying licking the window screens. Best guess: salt spray is tasty. Weirdest guess: fetish.

At about 13, this tiny, black & white portable TV meant I could watch Voyagers or MacGyver without fighting for the only TV in the house.

Here's one of my opinions: my cats are awesome.

Welcome to new folks! Best advice: you can block people here, and you’ll be happier if you block whoever you get that ick feeling.

There is an app that will point you when conditions are good. I’ll probably turn off the “always on” location tracking, but it pinged an hour before saying, “conditions will be good soon” and it wasn’t wrong!

Elsie agrees. She loves birds, but not the bird app.
