Caution: I block promotional accounts that try to boost their numbers by liking/following without engaging.
And when people get really mad it's usually not about actual bad things Republicans are doing, but rather because some inside-baseball bit of Democratic strategy isn't to their liking. Some detail that most voters will never understand or hear about, much less remember in the next election.

Same. And I feel like if there's news that's vital to know, I'll learn about it elsewhere. I don't necessarily need a bunch of random people's hot takes in order to understand it, especially when those hot takes are nearly always counterproductive.

Every time I see someone suggest we should want the Republicans to eliminate the filibuster, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. But argue with that premise on Scott's home blog and you'll get shouted down.

I'm in favor of eliminating the filibuster if the Dems take the Senate. Not a moment sooner.

If you're an investor, I imagine that sounds pretty good.

Her case was handled by Liberty Counsel, a Christian non-profit. They don't make their donor list public, but it's not hard to figure out the kind of person who would donate to them.

People on Bluesky can't decide if Schumer is weak and ineffectual, or a powerful Machiavellian leader at the head of a massive conspiracy. Apparently it's whichever is bad in any given scenario.

There've been some big ones in professional tennis. Once we got to the point where people could bet on individual serves, it became really easy to rig bets without even necessarily throwing the whole game.

Having known my share of airport bum pilots, this feels right to me.

I've met a lot of Canadians who seem to regard American politics as a sort of science experiment to tinker with.

Yup. I'm a little tired of people romanticizing the idea of an armed revolution when the most likely result is a lot of death followed by a military dictatorship.

Also no one advocating for revolution seems to have a plan that involves putting their own ass on the line. They want it done for them.

We have a ton of ammo boxes but they're mostly on one side. And not the one I'd prefer to see win.

The problem is the only network that would carry a daily formal presser is CSPAN. That stuff doesn't work anymore because the mainstream media won't cover it.

Last time they tried that they all got fired. I don't blame them for not trying it again.

I grew up in a rural area and can confidently say that the people loudest about defending the honor of the rural way of life are the ones who are doing it as cosplay.

The really stupid thing is If it were exactly the same maze but without pictures of corn no one would care.

In places where renting is cheaper, it pays more long term to rent and invest the extra income than it does to buy and let the property appreciate. Of course, most people don't invest the money, which changes the equation a bit.

In the US it varies a lot from city to city. I gather long term leases are also more common in the US than in the UK, so renting isn't quite as precarious here.

I'm not sure why the bank would care, since they're going to sell it off to a servicer immediately. Nor is the borrower likely to care much, since they're likely going to refinance or sell long before they pay off the loan.

Poor thing's frightened. Better get it some rubber ducks so it can feel safe again.

Part of it is we just don't make full sized sedans anymore. A typical modern midsize sedan is around 74 inches wide. Back in the 70s American sedans were often 79 inches. But demand for sedans in the US is weak, and wide cars are less desirable in Europe.
