I've enjoyed watching the ducklings and goslings in the park grow up this spring. I'm not a zoologist, but I've noticed:
Ducks have a hands-off parenting style.
Geese are helicopter parents.

After several years of reading #truecrime, I've found:
1) Every country and culture has its share of problems, and
2) People have always been awful.
It's mild comfort as I watch my country burn around me, but at this point I'll take whatever I can get.

At this point I really can't concern myself with purity of motive. To quote Jake Peralta, "I don't love how we got here but we're going where I want."
Mitch and Rand trying to keep that whiskey flowing?

I'm ashamed of my country. That's it. I'm too appalled to say anything else.

My first book is officially for sale at Kensington Row Bookshop thanks to their Local Author program.
The One Homicide Act is also available on the AOS Publishing website and will be in stores in August.

Guinness and James Joyce: my #StPatricksDay tradition.

I received my author copies of my first novel today. On St. Patrick's Day. So naturally I'm celebrating with Guinness and Redbreast.

I'm scared of what Mump are doing to the country. I worry I'll have to cancel my Europe trip this summer with travel safety gutted and the rest of the world hating Americans. I'm scared for my friends who lost their jobs. I'm scared of dangerous diseases returning with an anti-vaxxer running HHS.

My novel's premise came from a writing prompt on Reddit. I will never be able to find the post again, but to the Redditor who posted the "everyone gets to commit one murder but there are strict rules" prompt, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I don't know anything about football, but I'm having fun watching the #SuperBowl and the commercials with my friends. Now I desperately want Michael Shannon and Aubrey Plaza to make a movie together.

2025 has been an absolute shitshow so far, but I got one glimmer of good news today: the pre-order link for my first book is up on my publisher's website.

Kyle MacLachlan's tribute to his collaborator and friend David Lynch is beautiful. "The most authentically alive person I'd ever met."
Lynch's films have been a major part of my life. I saw Blue Velvet when I was 15 and I think it altered my DNA. I'm glad he shared his unique vision with the world.
This is a beautiful tribute.

As much as I dislike TikTok, them getting banned in the US would render parts of my upcoming novel irrelevant.

Second draft of my manuscript sent to the publisher today. 117 pages over 34,000 words, and three years of work. I'm excited and anxious, and grateful that my dream of becoming a published author is almost complete.
