As followers of Jesus Christ we cannot grow numb to violence or only grieve when tragedy touches people who look like us, think like us or live like us. Every life lost to hatred , division or violence is a tragedy that breaks the heart of God and it should brake ours too.

My grandmother marched with MLK. My grandparents had bricks thrown through their windows, with death threats attached, for supporting him and his message. They taught me to always stand up for what is right, no matter the cost. If we stay silent, we contribute to injustice.

When American Christians navigate American politics by following an American Jesus. We don't navigate American politics. By doing this we put ideas of the political parties over our Citizenship in the kingdom of God. Today the American church is deeply divided by race, politics, class and gender.

The funniest part to me is that even the pre-screened, pre-positioned Trump supporters didn’t get to order what they wanted. They just had to take whatever Trump gave them. Talk about beating people over the head with a metaphor.
Something you should know about the Trump McDonald’s appearance is that the restaurant was closed and the food service was all rehearsed with pre-screened volunteers
