OH MY FUCKING GOD the replacement package I got IKEA to agree to send me after two hours on the phone also has a duplicate FedEx tracking number. As you’ll recall, the last time IKEA/FedEx did this, my address was “corrected” to leave Boston and go to the other person’s address.

Update: Shipper may have reused the tracking number, but there still should be a failsafe where you can't scan it in a second time and it immediately fails and forces you to generate a new one if you want to scan the shipment in. It shouldn't be set up so that this can happen.

FedEx still maintains the package, the second one, which now is addressed to Rockville MD, was never headed for Boston or addressed to Boston, and that IKEA must have addressed it to the Rockville MD person rather than to me.

They say they're showing a different name in their system, but they're willing to talk to me now that I can provide that address.

See where the bar code was replaced? After that, it headed to Maryland instead of my house in Boston. This isn't rocket science. The person in Quincy changed it to the other person's address.

For those following along at home, my packet of documents mailed July 9 from one Boston address to another is now being sent out of Boston for sorting A SECOND TIME (after an attempted delivery, which, yes, the public defender’s office was closed on Saturday like it always has been.)

Ummmm it’s back. To the same distribution center that distributed it out of the city it’s supposedly headed to. Couldn’t the Boston distribution center, I don’t know, distribute it to the neighborhood post office in the first place?
