I also took logic in my junior year of college. It also helped me learn how to better distinguish between a statement that was valid vs. one that was invalid.

I took formal logic in college because it counted for meeting a couple requirements of my degree. I didn’t know what it was but it sounded interesting enough and less difficult than a class that unambiguously met whatever requirement it was I was trying to fulfill. I will forever be grateful 1/3

Read the full statement in English and Spanish at the link in our profile. The government shut-down will mean that poor people in the United States will no longer receive SNAP benefits beginning November 1, 2025. This is class war, and as socialists it is necessary to fight back. Although our government has endless funding to commit genocide abroad, it claims poverty when it comes to feeding our own children here at home. Approximately 62% of SNAP recipients are in families with children, meaning that we are quite literally starving children right now. Why? Because the class that is in power right now thinks that starving children, whether in Gaza or in the United States, is an acceptable thing to do, and further thinks that it can get away with it without a fight. 1/3 As socialists we understand this is a feature and not a bug in the current political system of the United States. The Republican Party actively wants to starve this population, using dehumanizing language to describe individuals receiving public assistance. Food stamp recipients are victims of capitalism, not “parasites.” At the same time, the Democratic Party only wants to draw attention to this horror to the extent that it might benefit them electorally. If the Democratic Party wanted to do something, then it would exercise the power that it actually has at the local level. All across the country, in states led by Democratic governors, however, the response has been absolutely anemic. Even though the Democrats can choose to spend state funds to feed the children frozen out of the SNAP program, they have so far chosen to dodge the issue instead. As socialists, we need to increase the pressure on the individual states to exercise the power that they have right now. 2/3 Across the country, we have the ability to agitate within individual states and cities to fill the gaps that are being created by an utterly horrific federal government, and to make sure that everyone responsible — whether through action or inaction — for literally starving children faces the consequences of their decisions, rather than passive acceptance. This is why we also strongly encourage chapters to utilize existing DSA mutual aid and tenant networks to check on neighbors and connect them with resources. We cannot sit on our hands, because solidarity means showing up and actively fighting tooth and nail. In solidarity. 3/3

We need @governor.ca.gov to follow through on a promised 750 million for transit, or risk devastating service cuts and a spiral of traffic nightmares.

BART service wouldn't meltdown if California funded transit.

In July @governor.ca.gov promised an emergency loan to stop Bay Area transit cuts.

But with just a few days left to issue the loan and Newsoms hasn't made good on his promise.

Monday was the first workday in which commuters felt SEPTA bus and subway service cuts. A fare hike and regional rail cuts take effect next week.
