There’s a persistent myth that new solar farms don’t really help tackle climate change because panels are “made with coal” and “never pay back” their carbon debt.

This is simply false.

- UN: solar ~8x cleaner than gas, ~19x than coal per kWh
- panels repay CO2 in 4 months; save 57x over life

NEW | Solar is now California’s #1 electricity source ☀️

Over the past 12 months (to April), solar generated more electricity than any other source in California — surpassing gas for the first time in history.

Rapid solar + battery deployment will keep this trend going 🔋⚡️

However, others like experts with @nrdc.org told me PJM’s backlog of clean energy projects in #NewJersey (namely for solar) has been a major issue.

@edpotosnak.bsky.social said “nuclear is the most expensive form of energy and we need to really think carefully about” how we move forward.

Over 56,000 jobs and $9.1 billion in economic output.

That’s what Utah stands to gain if it aggressively pursues a transition to renewable energy sources like wind and solar, according to a new report from the Sierra Club and Current Energy Group.

Using PacifiCorp’s plans, advocates say renewables are still Utah’s best bet
A new Sierra Club report touts the economic benefits of a more aggressive transition to clean energy like wind and solar. Utah leaders, however, are focused on their “all of the above” approach that still holds on to coal.
