My own thoughts on unions, education and public finance.
You could imagine this being a call for a wealth tax, anti-trust, limits on political contributions/spending and an NLRB that works, because we shouldn't keep the oligarchs at the top from dropping the lid on us. But you're right, I don't think that's what he meant.

I left a comment on OU's bluesky page, which is the smallest thing I could probably do. They don't post very often, but last one was literally about how great they are.

OU is on bluesky. They don't use it very often, but I left them a message to their latest post about how great they are to register my concern with their response

The university is on bluesky. They don't use it very often, but I left a reply to their latest post to register my thoughts about how they're doing so far with this.

I left a reply on the University's most recent bluesky post. They probably don't check it very often, but it made me feel better about idea that bsky is an echo chamber.

Because bsky can feel like an echo chamber, I took a minute and replied to a post on the University's bluesky account. It made me feel that I was speaking to some of the power.

The University of Oklahoma is on bluesky. Good for them (really). They don't use it often, but their latest post from two months ago about how great they might be a good vehicle to let them know how you think they are handling things. bsky.app/profile/ou.e...

I'm seeing your response to what scans as a political effort to attack the employment of an OU grad assistant. You take pains to make sure we know you take said effort seriously, but make no mention of academic standards or the rights of the grad student you have suspended. Top 25 all the way

A relatively progressive tax code that's been improved substantially in recent years and a far-sighted set of policies governing revenue from natural resources that functions as sort of endowment for the state.

I think of Build Back Better and Biden's infrastructure forward approach to climate change as a consummation, in some ways, of things that were happening in Seattle. That might not be enough, but its something.

I think its how our brains work. Prices are more likely to stand out as "new" but higher income is quickly baked into our cognitive systems. And average income increases - even ones tilted to lower wage workers - don't hit people sytematically the way prices do. So some folks really are worse off.

The underlying question is why we didn't, as a people, process that there was a commensurate increase in wages that put limits on the impact of the inflation? Because that also happened. Which is a different question. 2/2
November 28, 2025 at 7:37 PM
Post Covid we had a genuine inflation shock and it was unnerving. So the inflation happened, although it was subsiding last year. After decades of relatively low inflation I think this made everyone more price conscious, just in general. 1/2

The fox news audience? Is so, he's addressing them with just the faux b.s. outrage they tend to love.

I appreciate this. I tilt credentialist, but working through libertarian concerns has helped me, a trade unionist, look at the issue as one w/trade offs that need to be addressed case by case. Now I think the information market is so screwed that the cases increasingly tilt towards credentialism

The largest city of the nation, home of over 3 million immigrants, did just go from having a mayor under the thrall of the administration to having one who will do his best to stand up.

Just realized this is a lot of steps, but none are hard, none need be costly.

If you're splurging you could add feta. But its expensive, and you get more than you need, so its a good to have a bigger feta plan. But the yogurt does a lot of the job you'd want the feta to do. (end)

Diced cucumber and tomato w dill or mint & some vinegar or lemon juice. Yogurt, potentially fortified with smashed up cucumber or garlic. A large tortilla heated in the oven a little bit. And you have a relatively low cost feast that kind of imagines how the Greeks would do burritos. 4/?
