Dear Writer,

There's no law on how to write. Discover what works for you and do it until you're done.

Today is Let Freedom Read Day.

It closes out Banned Books Week and serves as a call to action: to defend books against censorship and to protect library staff (and teachers, writers, publishers, and booksellers) who bring us those books.

Dear Writer,

Stop trying to sound like someone else—you're you, and that's lovely.

This testimonial from Richard blew me away. His manuscript was a unique one for me: a lesson for his language-learning students wrapped up in a mystery he illustrated himself. It was so much fun to work through, and I’m grateful that I could show up for him (and his students!) in this way. 💜

A friend was visiting from the West Coast for 1 day, so I took yesterday off to tour her around Salem, MA. This included witchy things and proper maritime history, plus the special ~Kayleigh Tour~ of where I worked/behind-the-scenes drama, where I had first dates, where my car was rear-ended, etc. 😆

✨ Writing Prompt ✨

My hometown fair starts tomorrow, and while this year I won't be fighting the traffic for a jumbo donut, I thought it'd be fun to get some scene snippets.

When I saw this sad pumpkin, I had to bring it home. (Why was it so sad?! Was it lonely??) Look how much happier it is hanging out with my lemon tree.
