Thank you and I can’t help but roll all my eyes too. It’s just lazy philosophy rather than doing some evolutionary thinking.

A subject starts to meet the accepted multi-factor definitions for life. And they start to respond to biological forces. (The forces that influence life to act for survival.) These are beyond obeying just the laws of physics and chemistry. That’s the realm of sentience / consciousness to me.
