Implicit in a lot of anti-vaccination and anti-public health narratives like those of RFK Jr is a deep disgust/fear of disability; but also an unspoken hope that unchecked disease will "cull" the population of "weaker/less fit" people.
I really just can't see past a lot of that.

Felt like crap today. Back pain, autistic stuck-in-the-mud mood, & post-show blues. But hey, new Holme Beauty red lipstick arrived, so I did a full face of makeup for no reason. Did it fix my day? No. But I looked fab while surviving, and that’s a win. I’ll take it.

It’s okay to be disabled and say something different to what other disabled people say. There is so much pressure within disability circles to fall in line and parrot all the things others do.

I missed Furry Friends Friday! That shouldn’t mean you miss out on this gorgeous photo of Spencer Joe Biden extremely happy after a big play in the park! 🧡

When Brisbane decides it’s summer, it doesn’t tiptoe in — it cannonballs straight into your life with 90% humidity, 37°C heat, and a magpie that’s suddenly your personal trainer. #BrisbaneSummer #SendIce

It’s tricky balancing the support worker dynamic: I’m not searching for a BFF, but I also don’t want to feel like a ‘client’ under my own roof. We’re just two humans in a shared space—respect should feel like the norm, not an awkward negotiation. #disability

Pain flares are wild—you forget how bad they are until they’re back, and suddenly everything hurts. It’s like your body’s throwing a surprise party, but the theme is ‘suffering,’ and no one brought cake.

Happy International Day of People with Disability to… govts posting hashtags instead of funding disability advocacy, companies celebrating inclusion w/ zero disabled employees & those who love an ‘inspirational’ story but hate systemic change! Jokes aside, I wrote about who’s benefiting from IDPwD.
Who Benefits? Unpacking International Day of People with Disability - disabilitydialogue.com.au
Who actual benefits from this day? Is it a catalyst for change or is it another opportunity to congratulate allyship?

I’ve read the email so many times, but it’s still as brutal every time. Imagine getting this kind of truth telling from your mum. Paired with the sexual assault allegation, it should be disqualifying, but of course in Trump’s world gendered violence is normal.

“They live out of their downloads folder like it's a van by the river.”

I just thought this filing “system” was my ADHD. It’s generational, which means I can somehow blame my parents, right?
My web development students don't even know what files they own are. We have to review file structure every assignment that requires JavaScript or CSS.

I’m really struggling w/ how to engage w/ people who are opposed to every change to the NDIS. The disabled people I talk to all say it’s too complicated & inconsistent. Status quo is bad, so if you’re saying no to all changes, I genuinely want to know your plan to make it better. Let’s debate ideas.

Genuine question - should music & art therapy cost the same as seeing a physio or OT? I think it’s a bit much & probably prevents participants who could benefit from accessing these therapies from doing so if they have smaller budgets. Interested to know how much these therapies cost before #NDIS.

Men dominate the news influencer space space by a margin of roughly two to one, the study found.

The vast majority of content creators who are shaping our news ecosystem online are conservative men.

Today’s that lovely day when we’re reminded that because of the gender pay gap, women on average are working for free from now until the end of the year. Every day from now until 1 January we earn not a single cent b/c men’s labour is still worth more. When are we going to get around to fixing that?

What’s up, Bluesky? You seem lovely! Hoping for lots of lefty politics, disability policy and cute dogs. Here’s mine - Spencer Joe Biden - in his natural habitat, napping on the couch. He’s not just a good boy, he’s a GREAT boy.
