Totally understand! Hopefully it does work, but if not, I wouldn't stress yourself anymore about it :)

For sure! But yeah, I'd try dxvk and see if that fixes anything, it's an easy drag and drop so nothing too complex.

The game goes on sale all the time, so if you don't mind playing it on console you can get it on PS5, but I know you much prefer PC :( sucks cause the game is so good

You need a rtx 20 series and up to do ray tracing, so yeah if you have a card older than those then you won't get the option, so that rules that out! Really weird though :o
It shouldn't ruin your PC but I wouldn't risk it either sadly.

As for the hard crashing, really no idea how to fix that other than watching your PC temps, but I doubt it's your PC anyways like you said.

But yeah, I think the black screen with the outlines is due to a bug with ray tracing. Although idk if that's even available on DX11, early games with RT need to be on dx12 I think like Far Cry 5 and Battlefield 5 to use it, but can try to see if its still enabled

Basically ruins the game on vulkan instead of direct x, basically Proton does on Steam Deck and Linux in general since I don't think it supports Direct X. I know some games see a huge bump in performance when using it, like GTA4
