UK emissions fell to 479 Mt CO₂e in 2023. Lowest on record. But that includes overseas supply chain emissions too. If your business imports, outsources, or consumes, you're part of that footprint - whether or not you measure it.

Many small businesses care about climate, but only 39% have set a net zero target—and just 24% have a deadline. Without a clear plan, it's hard to prove credibility or show real progress. Good intentions aren't enough if the goals aren't measurable.

71% of UK consumers prefer climate-conscious brands. 60% of employees want to work for them. Carbon neutrality builds trust, attracts talent, and keeps you in the running for contracts. It's not just climate action—it's a growth strategy.

Carbon is no longer just an environmental issue. Under the UK Emissions Trading Scheme, excess emissions can cost £41.84 per tonne. Even small footprints can carry large risks. For SMEs, carbon neutrality is quickly becoming a business safeguard.

Over 85% of global fish stocks are now overexploited or depleted. Ocean ecosystems are breaking down, and coastal communities are feeling the strain. Can we halt the collapse before the damage becomes irreversible?

Global sea levels have risen about 8 to 9 inches since 1880—and the pace is speeding up. Coastal cities, ecosystems, and freshwater supplies are increasingly at risk. Can we act quickly enough to adapt and protect what's most vulnerable?

Superhydrophobic sand mulch reduces soil water loss and boosts crop yields—by up to 208% with brackish water. It's a low-cost, high-impact innovation that could transform farming in arid regions. Can simple science solve complex climate challenges?

Producing 1kg of beef uses 15,415 litres of water. Vegetables? Just 322 litres. With over 300 million m³ of water used annually for farming in England and Wales, how we grow and eat matters more than ever. Can our food system adapt before water becomes a limiting factor?

Transport makes up around 5% of food-related emissions, with road freight doing most of the damage. While not the biggest factor, it still adds up — especially for fresh goods. Can local and seasonal eating help lighten the carbon load?

Livestock farming uses 80% of global agricultural land but supplies only 18% of our calories. Could reallocating land to plant-based food and rewilding help feed more people and restore ecosystems? It's a question worth asking.

Did you know? The UK's built environment cut carbon emissions by 13% from 2018–2022 but we're still 6% short of our net-zero pathway. This equals the yearly emissions of 6.5 million cars!
To stay on track, we must double our efforts. More retrofits and smarter planning. Let's build better, together.

Nairobi Fashion Week is championing sustainability with locally sourced materials, and zero-waste production. Designers are blending cultural heritage with ethical fashion, proving that sustainability is deeply connected to identity. Could African fashion lead the global shift to responsible design?

The UK exports 422k tonnes of textile waste annually, with much ending up in landfills abroad. Domestically, 350k tonnes of clothing are discarded each year. With fast fashion driving waste, urgent action is needed to a circular fashion economy that minimises environmental impact.

"Local" doesn't always mean low-carbon. Green beans shipped by boat can have a lower footprint than locally grown ones produced in heated greenhouses. Transport is often under 10% of emissions—how food is grown matters more than how far it travels.

140 countries pledged to end deforestation by 2030—yet in 2023, 6.4M hectares were cleared and 62.6M degraded. At this rate, we'll miss the goal by 400M hectares. Promises are not protection.

The UK has eased EV rules—cutting penalties and delaying the hybrid ban—to support carmakers amid U.S. tariffs. A necessary move for industry, but one that tests our commitment to climate goals. Can economic resilience and sustainability still move forward hand in hand?

The carbon credit market could grow from $1.5B in 2024 to $200B by 2050. But not all credits are equal—many lack transparency or impact. As pressure to go net zero grows, we must prioritise real emissions cuts over questionable offsets. Integrity matters.

To shield UK carmakers from steep U.S. tariffs, the government has delayed the hybrid vehicle phase-out from 2030 to 2035. It's a move that gives the industry breathing room—but at what cost to our climate goals and the momentum of the electric vehicle transition?
