I honestly like the comparison here between Hortman and Wellstone.

The Minnesota shooter apparently used data broker websites to find the home addresses of the people he shot and murdered.

Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again.

Their inaction is deadly.

If people like Amy Klobuchar hadn’t spent the last two decades demanding we compromise with people who quite literally want us dead, maybe we wouldn’t fucking be in this position.

NGL, i've been dwelling on the fact the world's richest man is using a social media platform he owns to juice a conspiracy in which the political assassination that occurred in my state yesterday was some kind of inside job. And I'm genuinely wondering whether any of this shit is salvageable.

There was probably a time before you knew all the stuff you know now, right?

How many of us just learned how fucked things were in 2020? If you want people on the streets, be welcoming. Some percentage of those folks will become and stay active. We need more people engaged!
You gotta kinda let libs do protests their way and shut up about it. If you don't feel comfortable going, that's understandable. But let them do their thing.

We need people out there on the streets. The more they come out, the more chance they'll get to experience cops rioting. It all works out.

This is the massive crowd in Minnesota and it was suppressed because of fear after Melissa Hortman was assassinated. #nokings

It’s not illegal for a United States Senator to go to a public press conference and ask questions about your constituents safety.

It's our job.

It’s blindingly clear at this point that the protestors in Los Angeles are in fact helping to prevent a fascist takeover, and the pundits who suggested that protest is counterproductive were being either stupid or actively malicious.

And if you're worried about violence this weekend, imagine how much worse it'll be if there's no immediate action to hold *these* assholes accountable.

If they get away with roughing up a senator at a press conference, then protesters will be killed. It's a straight line.
The state of California needs to arrest the DHS "security" forces for assault and every Democrat in the U.S. Senate needs to sign onto a campaign to impeach Kristi Noem.

Right fucking now.

Please shut down the Senate until Noem answers for this outrageousness. You all need to defend Sen. Padilla, who was doing his job.

This will be the extent of Amy’s attempts to stop fascism.
What happened to Senator Padilla in California today is outrageous. Senator Padilla is a respected leader of great dignity and he has every right to ask a question of Secretary Noem without being slammed down and handcuffed.

This all comes down to policy choices.

Do we want a nation with policies rooted in cruelty and punishment?

Or do we want a nation with policies rooted in kindness and compassion?

This is the choice before us.
Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

The 2008-09 decision by Obama and Democratic leaders to disband his grassroots operation - which really was pretty grassroots for a political campaign - looms constantly in the back of my mind as I watch Dems turn away from popular movements.
One thing that I haven't seen said in the last 24 hours is that the Democratic Party had an opportunity, as an institution, to help shape, foster, and direct the grassroots popular uprising against Trump II.

They made a conscious decision not to.

Thankful we have Senator Smith on this and not Angie Craig.
Buried in the Big Beautiful Bill was a provision that gave a foreign mining company permission to build a copper-nickel sulfide mine on the doorstep of the Boundary Waters.

I’m relieved to announce that we were successful in forcing Republicans to drop this language from the bill.
