Now, I clearly have fun playing it. And I'm glad it exists. It is the best and most practical solution for retro-gaming on the go. Not even close. I'm in the hotel trying to finish the game and the different CRT filters are doing a great job rendering those sprites, giving a warm nostalgic feeling.

After a few hours, my left thenar is in pain because of the pressure the bottom corner of the console is causing. I also find the shoulder buttons weird. I understand the designers must have tweaked it a bit to fit different adapters and make it future-proof, but in general, it feels amateurish.

I still think it is the better looking FPGA solution on the market but it is also far from those Japanese handheld game consoles like the GB/A, PSP/V, Switch/2, etc. It doesn't have the same polishing, the plastic feels cheap, and it is clearly not as comfortable.

Playing on the Analogue Pocket is probably the closest I can get to the actual SFC experience plugged on my PVM. It is much more practical though. It is the first time I play so long on it since I bought this console a few years ago already.

I regret not having the main characters so. Especially because I like Donkey Kong so much. He is so cool. I like those big characters in Nintendo universes. I also find the exploration tedious without offering any sensible reward. But still, when it comes to platform gameplay, it shines.

I'm glad I'm playing it now because it is an underestimated one. Probably because it was released at the very end of an era and everyone already started paying too much attention to the N64 and PSX. The game is beautifully crafted and despite offering the same kind of challenges, it is well paced.

Kerning is off is the new collar gap. One trauma after another.

Playing Super Metroid on my SFC, plugged into a good PVM, in the living room, wrapped in cozy clothes and my old blanket, with my better one next to me going through Blue Prince, that’s how I imagined my adult life as a kid. I won life.

Oh… maybe that’s why I thought I watched it. I probably pretended I’ve watched it just to be in the conversation with those girls… well, now I can actually discuss it for real.

I’m so glad we spent time watching this movie together. What a blast. The images are beautifully restored in that 4K version. I wish I watched it in movie theater back then, I would probably have liked it very much. I actually remember my classmates talking about it. Especially the girls.

I never realised that Zorro actually happens in California. Growing up watching it in France, I always thought it happens in Spain. Speaking of which, I still prefer the French title song tho. And… i also just realised that the 1960 version is Disney! So many discoveries suddenly.

The sword fights are some of the most stylish I’ve seen. The choreography is beautiful. The cast is amazing: it’s like an all star games of all Hollywood big shots. I also like the costumes: almost at every scene I’ll say « I want to dress like this ».

Finished. What a blast. Glad I’ve done it. Clearly one of the best games on 3DS. It is gorgeous, moves well, with fantastic pacing, tons of great moments, and as usual, a fantastic environmental story telling. I understand now why Nintendo gave this team Metroid Dread. GG.

That grab is so cheap.

Wait. How long is that last boss again? How many sequences? And why is the end of Metroid 2 so much like the end of Ender’s Game?
November 8, 2025 at 7:48 AM
And even my complaint that the game suddenly becomes so much harder isn’t valid when I take the perspective that other players will probably go back and upgrade more before tackling new areas.
November 7, 2025 at 10:05 PM
I realise now that the game actually gives many opportunities for the players to figure it out themselves. It is that it doesn’t spit out the solution for them. Which is fine. But it is still quite frustrating. The frustration is endemic to the genre as we don’t know what we don’t know until we do.

I also just realised the game lets you do super-mega jump with that super bomb. And you literally have to use that technique to get one of the missile upgrades. It’s crazy the game doesn’t teach it and I have to randomly discover it by myself.
November 7, 2025 at 9:27 PM
The most frustrating part about those big bosses is the bad signifier. I waste so many missiles because I don’t know when they hit and when they don’t.

You are one of the only few channels I watch online nowadays. Thanks for finally coming up with a good packaging. Bought it yesterday and can’t wait to try it out.

I still have to watch Yórgos Lánthimos’ other movies, especially Poor Things, and this one clearly gave me even more reasons to find time to do so.
